I Give You My Body

 

“Dear Death, Accepting you will help me live a life with intention and have a death with meaning.”

This piece was inspired by the artists’ decision to leave her body to a local Medical School after death. We are catching an anatomical class, mid-dissection. The diorama measures 14 x 17 x 12 inches. The box is constructed from wood, the figures are made using wire, clay, fabric and wool, the corpse is made of wire and clay with removable organs, on the shelves are specimen jars, skulls, books and there is a tiny working light that hangs above the students and subject.
