Femke was asked by astronauts, Willem, Horvath and Julie if she would take them to the moon, and she agreed. They now nestle inside her chest, safely on their way.

Femke the giant great owl was made with wire, papier-mache, clay and fabric. She is 41 inches long and 15 inches wide and hangs from a wire in her back. The astronauts were all carved from wood.
